March 28, 2008

Midwest is pleased to announce the hiring of Pat Meisenheimer as Senior Project Manager. Pat will begin working for Midwest Mechanical on April 28, 2008. He has over 30 years experience as a Project manager / Project Director / Owner's Representative with extensive experience in Health Care and Pharmaceutical Lab projects. Pat is a graduate of Marquette University with a degree in Civil Engineering.

Messer Construction has announced that Dyer/Midwest a Joint Venture was selected by the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY for the new 289,000 sf, 5-story academic research facility the University of Kentucky Pharmacy Laboratory. Thomas J. Dyer is a Cincinnati-based sheet metal contractor that we formed a joint venture with for the Middletown Regional Hospital in Middletown, OH which was completed in November 2007. Together, Dyer/Midwest looks forward to working with Messer Construction to construct what will be the largest academic building in the State of Kentucky. Midwest announces trade show participation for 2008:

The American Society of Healthcare Engineers Planning Design Conference (ASHE PDC) in Orlando, March 9 - 12, 2008 at Booth # 816 at the Gaylord Palms Convention Center and Resort.

 

  

 

The BBI International Fuel Ethanol Workshop (FEW) in Nashville, June 16 - 19 at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center and Resort at Booth # 1073.

Midwest Mechanical Contractors has recently been selected as the mechanical contractor on the Johnson County, Kansas Adult Detention Center expansion project, the Sanofi-Aventis Chiller Separation project and the Neskia Energy LLC 10MGY Corn Ethanol Plant in Scandia, KS.

October is a month of celebrations for Midwest employees!  Midwest Mechanical Service, Inc. moves into the Kansas City office/fabrication shop facility at 13800 Wyandotte, finally bringing all of our Kansas City-based employees "under one roof!"The Nace Brothers entertian

Oct 2007 ESOP, Safety & Retirement Celebration participantsMidwest employees also celebrated October ESOP Month and the field employees accomplishment of another 500,000+ hours without a Lost Time Injuries plus celebrate the retirement of 2 long-time employees.

All employees and guests who attended were treated to live music by the Nace Brothers Band, friends of one of the retirees, while BBQ, beverages and Sheridan's Ice Cream treats were enjoyed by all.

 

September 15, 2007

Brent Hawley is named Vice President Field Operations. In this role, Brent will oversee all field operations and Project Management Staff. Brent previously spent 7 years at our sister company Pahor Mechanical Contractors in Las Vegas as Senior Project Manager and Operations Manager; and approximately 7 years with Midwest Mechanical Contractors as a Project Manager and Senior Estimator before moving to Las Vegas.

Promotions & New Hires:  

Keith Flowers, Senior Project Manager was promoted to the position of Vice President Construction Planning. In this role, Keith will coordinate the efforts of construction planning personnel and lead early construction processes, including CADD, fabrication, purchasing, subcontract negotiation, scheduling, and budget development..

Tamara Gaunce has accepted the position of Human Resources/Office Manager. Tamara comes to Midwest with a Business Information degree and 11 years of experience in HR and management.

Project Award Announcements: 

Midwest Mechanical Contractors is awarded  Carbon & Stainless Steel Fabrication for a 40MGY Corn Ethanol Plant in Levelland, Texas.

Midwest is awarded Carbon & Stainless Steel Fabrication and Process Rack Piping contracts for a 55MGY Corn Ethanol Plant in Carrollton, MO.

 

Midwest Mechanical Contractors is selected by Manhattan Construction as their design/assist mechanical contractor for the 352,198 sf Quapaw Casino and Resort Hotel in Quapaw, (Miami) OK. Construction of the 2-story Casino will begin immediately with a targeted opening date of July 4, 2008! Construction of the 12-story resort hotel will begin in late summer/early fall.

ibuild  (formerly Crayons to Cad) will be held May 3rd where approximately 1600middle and high school students are expected to attend this event. Representatives from all aspects of the construction industry will be participating. This event is considered one of the largest single-day construction career sessions promoting pathway awareness for young people in America. The iBuild event helps support NICE (National Institute for Construction Excellence) and its efforts to develop construction curriculums for Middle and High school students.  Midwest will participate in the event with a CAD demonstration in our booth.

Midwest is awarded United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. The new 8-story hospital will be 688,756 sf and construction will begin Spring 2008 with occupancy in November 2009. The Construction Manager is Balfour Beatty (formerly Centex Construction).

SAFETY:  Midwest Mechanical employees continue to work safely every day and have achieved 252,312 hours of No Lost Time Incidents between October 31, 2006 and April 13, 2007.

MCA NEWS:  Company President, Michael J. Kotubey is selected to MCA Board of Directors at the Annual Mechanical Contractors Association of America . Click here to read MCA press release.

AWARDS: Midwest Mechanical receives the Kansas City Economic Development Council Cornerstone Award at a luncheon held at the Muehlbach Hotel for the office and fabrication facility constructed for the company headquarters in 2006. Other notable recipients include the Boulevard Brewery and H & R Bloch World Headquarters.

MMC Corp is named the ESOP Association AACE Award Winner. The AACE (Annual Award for Communications Excellence) for our Total Communications Program for Division C companies (501 - 1,000 employees for 2007). Representatives from our ESOP Committee will be presented this exciting award at the Annual ESOP Association Conference in Washington DC this May.

Midwest Mechanical Contractors holds 1,000,000 Hours Without A Lost Time Incident Safety Celebration!

To honor and congratulate our field employees for their hard work and SAFE work from July 2004 through October 2006, Midwest held a drawing for a brand new 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Pick Up Truck and hosted a bar-b-que event at our office/fabrication/warehouse facility.  Long-time employee Bob Wasson's name was drawn as the lucky winner. Bob is photographed here with President Mike Kotubey as Mike presents the keys to Bob's new truck and proudly dangling the key over the Congratulations sign!  CONGRATULATIONS BOB!

The best news is that Midwest has almost achieved another 250,000 man-hours of No Lost Time Incidents since the previous incident.
