10-Story Expansion Hospital

The University of Arkansas Medical Sciences (UAMS) is located in Little Rock, Arkansas. This 540,000 square foot, 10-story expansion to their existing campus, marks the 8th healthcare facility we have constructed in the State of Arkansas.

Midwest provided pre-construction and construction services for the project which included a Central Energy Plant and the following areas within the 10-story hospital: 437 total patient beds, 333 adult and 64 newborn, 30-bed Step Down Unit, three Trauma Rooms, Flexibility in the Emergency Department to handle large scale events that could involve up to 54 separate patients, Interventional Medicine, PRI, Radiology, Cardiology, Laboratory space along with an Auditorium/Conference Center and Cafe, a 2-story Atrium and a total of 19 Operating rooms are now available on the UAMS campus.

Midwest pre-fabricated a significant amount of medical gas and HVAC piping in our Kansas City fabrication shop. By fabricating the medical gas and other piping in our fabrication shop, whether in Kansas City or on-site, we are able to control the quality and decrease the amount of on-site labor required to construct the project, this is especially practical in sites with little or no lay-down or staging areas.
